Based on the island of Oahu, Hawaii, I’m an artist that creates intricately-detailed paintings on paper. Working primarily in watercolor, I’m currently painting the delicate and precious wildlife of the Hawaiian Islands.  At first glance my work may seem merely illustrative or decorative, but in fact every painting is carefully researched, the subjects diligently rendered to express their unique qualities and beauty.  I want each piece to feel like a marriage of scientific illustration and illuminated artistry. Frequently, I add gilded details or even tiny patterns to the surface of plants and animals to express my joy in their elegance.  In larger compositions the subjects often communicate a particular theme concerning conservation or humankind’s relationship with the natural world and each other.  Inspiration for each painting or series might come from any number of sources. It could be something I’ve read, observed on a walk, at the beach, in a greenhouse, or botanical garden.  Last year, my husband and I were provided with a unique opportunity to pick up our lives and relocate to the island of Oahu. I’m profoundly grateful for this chance to grow my art practice and learn about the islands— their people and wildlife.  It is my desire to create beauty with purpose and fill a space with something a collector will not only enjoy today, but will cherished for years to come.

I graduated from Austin Peay State University in 2009, obtaining a BFA with a concentration in painting. For the last several years I’ve created work for private collection and commission.
